Situated amidst the natural grandeur, Jackson Hole, Wyo., is also special for its welcoming attitude toward canine companions. For those who love to explore with their furry friends, Jackson Hole offers a fantastic array of dog-friendly places, ensuring your pup can join in on the fun. Whether you are looking for expansive off-leash areas, scenic trails for a good walk, or a cozy cafe patio where your dog is treated like family, Jackson Hole delivers.

Read on to learn where you and your dog can go together — parks, trails, and a few cafes and restaurants.

Emily Stevens Park: Off-Leash Freedom and Teton Views

Emily Stevens Park, located on the east side of the Snake River bridge on Highway 22, is a premier spot for dog owners in Jackson Hole. It offers three miles of dog-friendly levee trails and other amenities, making it a favorite for residents and visitors.

This park is a notable exception to stricter dog rules in other areas, allowing well-behaved dogs off-leash while emphasizing respectful use and cleanup. You'll discover breathtaking views of the Teton Range to the north of the park, creating a stunning backdrop for your walk. Reviewers praise its beautiful river views and the opportunities for dogs to swim in small ponds along the trails, making it a perfect spot for active pups to cool off.

Cache Creek Trail: Local Favorite for Hikes

Cache Creek Trail, located just a few miles outside downtown Jackson, is a highly popular and extensive trail network for locals and visitors looking to exercise with their dogs. This area offers a variety of paths for different levels of activity.

Dogs are welcome on these trails, as long as they are leashed and all waste is cleaned up. The trail system winds through the forest and along the pristine Cache Creek, offering unique mountain views and, in season, a blanket of wildflowers. It provides a good sweat as you trek through the wilderness.

Bridger-Teton National Forest: Expansive Wilderness Access

Bridger-Teton National Forest, which surrounds much of the Jackson Hole area, provides over 3.4 million acres of public land where dogs are generally welcome. This offers vast opportunities for extensive hikes and exploration beyond the more developed park areas.

In the Bridger-Teton National Forest, dogs are typically required to be at your side or under voice control, and leashing is advised, especially when encountering wildlife. Trails like the Pacific Creek Trail are popular dog-friendly options. Be aware that wildlife, including moose and bears, can be present, and always practice responsible pet ownership by keeping your dog safe and not disturbing animals. Check for specific signage at trailheads for any localized restrictions.

Rendezvous Park (R Park): Unique Perimeter Trail

Rendezvous Park, affectionately known as "R Park," is located in Wilson. It offers a distinct dog-friendly experience as one of the few parks in Jackson that is partially open to dog walkers. This park has a special-use perimeter trail specifically designed for dog owners.

The 0.9-mile easy loop trail leads to the Snake River, where dogs can often be unleashed for a swim. The park's focus on community and recreation provides a pleasant environment for humans and their canine companions. This unique perimeter trail allows dog owners to enjoy the park's natural beauty along the Snake River while adhering to designated pet-friendly areas.

Cowboy Coffee Co.: Western Charm and Patio Sips

Cowboy Coffee Co., located on the Town Square in downtown Jackson, is a charming local coffeehouse that welcomes dogs on its outdoor patio. It provides a classic Western-themed ambiance, perfect for a cozy break with your pup.

They serve a wide selection of house-roasted hot and cold coffee drinks, including popular options like the "Honey Badger Latte." You can also find tasty pastries, homemade soups, and sandwiches. Reviewers often note how dog-friendly the staff are, sometimes offering treats, making it a favorite spot for grabbing a coffee and enjoying the downtown atmosphere with your dog.

Persephone Bakery: Artisan Delights Outdoors

Persephone Bakery, a highly acclaimed French-style spot in Jackson, welcomes leashed dogs at its outdoor tables on its charming patio or garden seating area. It's a prime location for enjoying artisan breads, pastries, and exceptional coffee in a beautiful setting.

Often described as a "slice of Paris," Persephone offers a menu of breakfast plates, lunch sandwiches, soups, and salads. Their pastries, like the Raspberry Pistachio croissant, are widely celebrated. This cafe provides a refined yet comfortable outdoor dining experience where you can savor gourmet treats with your furry friend.

Cafe Genevieve: Southern Comfort on the Patio

Cafe Genevieve is a dog-friendly eatery in Jackson, WY, where Fido can join you at a table on their inviting outdoor patio. This restaurant is known for its homestyle comfort food with a Southern twist, making it a popular spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Their menu features classics like their famous "Pig Candy" (candied bacon) and chicken-fried steak. The outdoor dining area provides a cozy and welcoming ambiance, especially in warmer months. Cafe Genevieve consistently receives high ratings for its food and friendly service, ensuring a pleasant experience for humans and their canine companions.

About the Author

Born in the land of the Delta Blues, Colby Murphy grew up as a nationally ranked cyclist and avid outdoorsman. Colby's addiction for competition took his amateur cycling career through college, capturing silver at the USAC National Championship and a spot on Team USA for the 2013 UCI World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand. While attending Middle Tennessee State University, Colby volunteered coaching youth athletes in addition to interning with the D1 NFL Combine Camp in Nashville, Tennessee. It was freshman year when Colby was exposed to the magic of Jackson Hole. Instantly attracted, he began splitting his time to ski Jackson every year thereafter.

Upon publishing research in the International Journal of Exercise Science and receiving his bachelor’s degree, Colby immediately relocated to Southern California in pursuit of his professional cycling career. Once retired from competition, Colby quickly found himself as a top producing sales professional serving owners of high end luxury real estate in areas of San Diego including Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla, and Coronado. With his affection for luxury property, history with Jackson Hole, and prior connection to Christie's International Real Estate, Colby saw a clear path and executed a move to Jackson. In his spare time, he now enjoys turning laps at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and giving back at Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding Association.

Colby is fortunate to have been raised around admirable examples of what drive, tenacity and resilience can yield. His father, a self-made entrepreneur, and uncle, an owner of the Christie's affiliate brokerage in San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City, both inspired Colby's ambitions from an early age.

Now, Colby has positioned himself among some of the most respected networks in the industry. He feels proud and blessed to have established relationships with multiple Christie’s affiliate owners and associates spanning multiple cities, states, and countries. Colby has also recently become a member of REALM™, the first globally collaborative real estate collective designed to empower the real estate professional by curating new relationships and matching qualified buyers based on lifestyle experiences and passions rather than search criteria.

In a market where there are as many agents as annual transactions, Colby represented clients from Australia, the UK, Mexico, and several U.S. states in his first year alone. He applies the principles and work ethic he learned through sport and his impressive circle of mentors to ensure he creates the highest value for his clients. Always elevating, always seeking excellence, his acquired values and attributes provide a successful combination that will ensure your selling or buying experience is a win.
